So, ummm… Precious Hearts Romances are local Filipino romance pocketbooks that are written in Tagalog, with the sporadic English dialogue. I don’t personally know anyone who reads them but I was required to at a previous job to widen my Tagalog vocabulary. Didn’t work.
What’s particularly funny about these books is how their covers are notoriously known for featuring illustrated local or foreign celebrities. Sometimes it’s Keanu Reeves, sometimes Tom Cruise, and at times Piolo Pascual. But this is the first time I’ve ever seen a k-pop artist on their cover.
I was walking by the shelves when I thought to myself, “Hold up. Was that Yesung?” So I backtracked and picked up the book. Sure enough, it was Yesung on a cover of a book that was part of a romance trilogy aptly called K.R.Y. So of course I had to scour the shelves for Kyuhyun and Ryeowook.
I browsed through the books and, needless to say, these things are published fanfiction… about 3 Korean singers from a band called Sapphire Blue… who make up a sub-unit of ballad singers. Oh, man. I can’t stop laughing.
Whoever is behind the pen name Marione Ashley, nice going making money out of your fanfiction. That’s like not even a dollar for each book, but still. Haha.
